Is it good for 14 years old?
Answer: Probably not, unless you are going to purchase about 2 or 3 to connect together or unless the 14 year old is very petite. I purchased this for a 10 year old and got 2 in order to give her enough length to begin and end a tumbling move while still on the device. -

Is this a good balance beam?
Answer: It's a foam balance beam. I'm 115lbs and would like for it to be more firm. I find it very useful, but a little squishy for doing cartwheels, etc. It does not feel like a real balance beam at the gym. However, it's super convenient and for the price I can't complain. -

How many would you recommend buying?
Answer: I bought this for my 10 yr old granddaughter last year for Christmas. (She is actually upstairs on it right now!!). I would definitely buy 2! They velcro together and separate easily. She needs the longer length to practice her cartwheels (which she can now do on the beam at gymnastics, 85% due to her being able to practice at home). I would not have been as satisfied (and I don't think she would have either) with just one short 4' section. Hope this helps! -

Is it good for traveling?
Answer: Well depends what you mean by good. It's very light and very small in diameter around but it still is 4 feet long so as long as you don't mind the length. I will say though you really need 2 imo to make it worth while. -

Can we place the beam anywhere or do we need a mat to keep it steady while it is being used?
Answer: It can be used anywhere. My daughter (a gymnast) loves it! I would suggest, however, that the beam be on a carpeted area for safety reasons (my daughter uses it to practice harder and harder skills). The beam is very light and can be taken anywhere. -

Is the filling on this balance beam thick and sturdy enough where it won't collapse or squish down when walked on. My daughter is only 7
Answer: Yes. The foam is sturdy enough for my 12-year old daughter to practice gymnastics on so it should be sturdy enough for your 7-year old to walk on. -

Would a mat be good to do back walk over for competition?
Answer: This beam is very light weight. When my older daughter does turns, the ends do lift a bit. It is soft and would stay put but you would also need 2 as they are 4' sections. -

Would this work out on grass, cause I wanted to get a full 4 pieces and only 3 will fit inside, so I don't wanna order 4 if not? ty!
Answer: I bought this year ago for 50 # 9 year old grand daughter who was starting gymnastics. I would be concerned that it would slide around on grass. It works great on a flat hard surface. great product. -

Answer: Not as described...too small for a 10yr old. My daughter can only take two steps an she's in the floor
