The PreSonus Studio Channel is a popular product that is well-received by customers. It has a built-in phantom power supply and a 48V button on the front. Customers can only use one input at a time, and the instrument input doesn't disable the mic input. The unit does not have a built-in reverb or echo feature. Customers have been successful in running the mic to the PreSonus studio Channel with an audio interface, but the device only has one output. The Digital Option Card slot on the back is for a planned expansion card that was never released. The Studio Channel has received positive feedback for its full featured compressor and variable-Q, which is great for VO. The compressor works perfectly without any audible distortion or clipping with sound sources that have a wide dynamic range. The EQ function is hard to notice and it's difficult to get a usable sound out of it, but with experimentation it can become an indispensable tool. The vacuum tube preamp can get noisy at higher gain settings, but at lower settings, it sounds great. Customers have mostly been happy with the channel strip as it works beautifully and it's great for recording hobbyists. However, there are a few negative feedback comments regarding the channel strip including the crackling noise and high pitch static sound; the noise problem may have been caused by a tube malfunction or a defective device.
