What is Fertilome 11483 Brush Killer Stump Killer used for?

Fertilome 11483 Brush Killer Stump Killer is specifically formulated to eliminate unwanted brush, shrubs, and tree stumps. The herbicide targets the root system, ensuring that treated plants do not regrow. It's highly effective for gardeners looking to clear land for new landscaping projects or agriculture, as it penetrates the plant and travels down to the roots, effectively stopping regrowth.

How should I apply Fertilome Brush Killer?

For optimal results, apply Fertilome Brush Killer using a brush, roller, or sprayer to freshly cut stumps or cut stems of unwanted plants. Ensure that the product directly contacts the cut area for maximum absorption. This is particularly important after rain or during moist conditions, as the chemical will move into the plant's system more efficiently, leading to successful eradication.

Is Fertilome Stump Killer safe to use around pets and children?

While Fertilome Stump Killer is effective for plant control, it is important to keep children and pets away from the treated area until it fully dries. The herbicide contains chemicals that can be harmful if ingested or improperly handled. For safety, designate treated zones clearly, and ensure all individuals are informed about where the product has been applied.

When is the best time to use Fertilome Brush Killer?

The ideal time to use Fertilome Brush Killer is during the growing season, especially in late spring to early summer when plants are actively growing. This timing enhances the absorption of the herbicide and ensures that the chemical transports into the root system effectively. Additionally, applying during dry weather will improve the herbicide’s performance.

Can I use Fertilome Stump Killer on all types of trees?

Fertilome Stump Killer is effective against many types of trees and shrubs, including common broadleaf species. However, it's crucial to identify the plant type before application, as some species may react differently to treatments. Always refer to the product label for specific guidelines on which plants can be treated to ensure effective results.

How long does it take for Fertilome Stump Killer to work?

Users can typically expect visible results within a few weeks of application, as the product works by penetrating the plant and traveling to the roots. Complete eradication may take longer, depending on the size of the plant and environmental conditions. Observing changes during this period can help determine if a follow-up treatment is necessary for larger or stubborn plants.

Can Fertilome Brush Killer be used on freshly cut stumps?

Absolutely! In fact, Fertilome Brush Killer is specifically designed to be applied on freshly cut stumps and stems for maximum effectiveness. Applying the product immediately after cutting will enhance its ability to invade the plant's system and prevent regrowth. This is a common practice among landscapers and gardeners seeking to maintain clean and clear areas.

Is there any specific clothing or gear I should wear when using Fertilome?

When applying Fertilome Stump Killer, it is advisable to wear protective clothing, including gloves and safety glasses, to prevent skin and eye contact. Additionally, wearing a mask can be beneficial if using a spray application to avoid inhaling any fumes. This level of precaution ensures personal safety while effectively treating unwanted plants.

Can I mix Fertilome Brush Killer with other chemicals?

Mixing Fertilome Stump Killer with other chemicals is generally not recommended unless specified on the product label. Certain combinations can reduce effectiveness or produce harmful reactions. For best results, it's advisable to use the herbicide alone, following the instructions for application to ensure it functions as intended.
