    Answer: When connected to Nest heating it can show and control temperature via your Show. You can also ask any of your home's echo devices what the nest temperature is (current nest room temperature) as well as asking alexa to switch on/off and adjust temperature
  • Question: Does this come with UK plug or European plug?

    Answer: Comes with a plug that suits your region
  • Question: Does it recognize voice commands easily? My elderly mother has a weak voice.

    Answer: Has a very good microphone array. Getting the Alexa requests exactly right more the issue. Get the Alexa app on your phone to see how it works
  • Question: Can I set up voice and video calling from the device without downloading the Alexa app? My elderly mother does not have a smart phone.

    Answer: No. You will need to synchronize your smartphone contacts with the Alexa app.
  • Question: Can you read books on it?

    Answer: We are reading books from Audible that have been downloaded on a Kindle Fire, and that seems to work fine.
  • Question: Is there any way of turning off the advertising/news on the show screen? So you can just have the home picture.

    Answer: As mentioned, still experimenting with the Do not disturb scenario. If you use any commands etc then you have to pull down the top menu and turn the do not disturb icon off and on, reset it so to speak, to continue notification free. Not ideal I agree, but if like me it has been bugging you for months then relatively small price to pay!
